Guest speaker: Marie Grey from Lodge Lane & District Credit Union.

Marie gave a good presentation of the Credit Union and who owns it - which is its own members and managed by them as well. The Credit Union's purpose is to provide reasonably priced financial services, helping people to manage their money well.

The Lodge Lane & District Credit Union Started in 1989 and covers the following postcode areas: L1, L2, L3, L7, L8, L15, L17, L18.

Savers

You can save as much or as little as you want, either by weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Pay at any service point, or by standing order from your bank, or benefits paid in. Savings are protected under a Government Scheme. The Savers receive yearly dividend on their savings. They offer a free life insurance on savings up to age 80 years. Children can join as young members. 

Borrowers

The Credit Union is a responsible lender, the main criteria is the member can afford the repayments. Interest is at an affordable rate. They offer lower rates for established savers. A free loan protection Insurance if you die up to the age of 70 years.

Joining the Credit Union 

It is a one off joining fee of £4 and you will need at least £1 to kick start a saving plan, you will need Personal ID, photo if possible, and recent address.
